Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Building Services

Location: London

Salary: Up to £70,000 per annum

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of HVAC, plumbing, ventilation, and associated systems for commercial developments, including CAT A/B fit-outs and bespoke builds.
• Conduct and review detailed calculations, energy modeling, load assessments, and performance simulations.
• Produce comprehensive documentation: design drawings, specifications, reports, and technical schedules.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, structural engineers, contractors, and clients to ensure integrated design solutions.
• Carry out site inspections, surveys, and resolve technical issues during installation and handover phases.
• Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering technical growth and knowledge sharing.
• Maintain awareness of evolving UK standards, sustainability practices, energy efficiency targets, and regulatory guidelines.

Essential Requirements

• Bachelor\'s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline.
• At least 15 years of UK-based experience in mechanical building services design, especially within commercial projects.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred-or demonstrable equivalent experience working at that level.
• Proficiency with design tools: AutoCAD, Revit MEP, IES (or similar energy modeling packages).
• Strong technical knowledge of UK regulations, CIBSE guidelines, British Standards, and sustainability best practices.
• Proven leadership, project oversight, and client-facing capabilities.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
