OverviewSenior Mechanical Design Engineer (H/F) - SAFRAN SEATS GB LIMITEDResponsibilitiesTo aid in the development of new product designs and their structure in the PLM systemTo manage the product maturity and development in the PLM systemTo lead the design effort for packages of work or modules and to develop and manage the tasks and deliverables of a team of design engineersTo maintain the engineering quality and integrity of the work produced within their module(s), work package(s) or projectTo design check the modules (2D, 3D, EBoMs) against internal standards and be responsible for the technical accuracy of designs prior to processing for releaseResponsible for the design and detail modelling of a variety of suite components in order to meet the customer, regulatory and OEM requirementsTo monitor, manage and meet the cost and weight targetsCommunicate effectively and professionally with customers and suppliers as well as to manage data transfer as required for product development or other needsOrganise and participate in Design Reviews throughout each phase of the New Product Introduction process, and ensure follow-up actions are takenEnsure the selection and application of materials and processes are appropriate to each design element and are in line with standards, materials and processes guidesEnsure the successful integration of each module within the product as a wholeManage design changes as required to support manufacturing/production, customers, quality, and certificationFollow and contribute to the development of Best Practice guidelines and lessons learnt as laid out in the Design Engineering Hub & business management systemsGenerate and/or revise specifications as requiredCoach, mentor and develop less experienced design engineers (apprentices, graduates etc.)Work towards achieving design signatory statusResponsible for management and control of daily attendance, holidays and absence management for the teamAssisting in recruitment of team members as and when requiredQualificationsQualified to a minimum of degree in a Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering field. Alternatively a HNC/HND or an equivalent qualification in Mechanical / Aerospace / Structural Engineering apprenticeship, with extensive experience in mechanical systems design, developing concept and detailing engineering solutionsEssential: Highly Proficient with experience in CATIA V5 (or other 3D CAD packages) and Product Life Management (PLM) SystemsEssential: Ability to plan and schedule design activities across multiple design modulesEssential: Understanding of the effective application of tolerances and a working knowledge of manufacturing processes, as well as OEM installation requirementsEssential: Working knowledge of sheet metal fabrication, plastics vacuum forming, CNC machiningEssential: Ability to read mechanical design drawings and specificationsEssential: Experience using project management toolsDesirable: Proven experience supervising a team of Mechanical Design engineersDesirable: Experience with Boeing and Airbus interiors specifications or equivalent OEM specificationsDesirable: Experience in new model introductionDesirable: Design signatory/approverDesirable: Competencies in problem solving, communication, and cross-functional influenceLocation and TypeLocation: Bristol, England, United Kingdom (as indicated in related postings).
