This company designs and manufactures innovative training equipment for academic institutions worldwide. With a strong focus on research, development, and curriculum integration, its products span electronics, robotics, mechanics, and renewable energy. The team combines industrial expertise with educational insight to create rugged, user-friendly tools that support practical learning and technical skill development across STEM disciplines.They are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer proficient in SolidWorks, with demonstrated leadership capabilities and a proven ability to oversee and manage projects from inception through to production. The role involves designing products and solutions for educational use, staying informed on market trends and technological developments, and contributing to technical documentation.ResponsibilitiesDesigning mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorksCreating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs) and generating accurate cost estimatesSourcing components and liaising with suppliersApplying machining, sheet metal, and finishing processes to ensure product qualitySelecting appropriate materials and finishes for function and aestheticsIntegrating mechanical components such as bearings, gears, pulleys, and couplingsConducting design calculations and applying engineering theoryBuilding and testing prototypes using workshop tools and rapid prototyping equipmentCollaborating with electrical/electronic engineers to integrate PCBs and componentsSupporting electronic integration within mechanical designs to ensure seamless functionalityProducing technical documentation for internal and customer useSupporting product demonstrations and contributing to technical briefsLeading design projects and managing them through the full development lifecycleProviding guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and contributing to team developmentExperiences requiredProficient in SolidWorks and 3D modellingDegree-qualified in Engineering or a related disciplineMinimum of 5 years’ professional experienceProven experience in project management and cross-functional collaborationStrong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to drive projects forward and support team membersSkilled in creating detailed production drawings (DFM)Experience designing mechanical components with appropriate limits and fitsExperience working on projects involving electronic integration and collaboration with electronics teamsFamiliarity with measuring techniques for mechanical parametersKnowledge of machining, sheet metal, and bending processesHands-on experience with workshop tools and prototype testingPackage37.5 Hours P/WMonday to FridayFlexible Hours (7am to 6pm)33 Days Holiday Inc.
