Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Automotive Test Facilities Gaydon, Warwickshire 7-month contract Rates: Negotiable (Inside IR35)
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading automotive organisation, supporting the development and delivery of advanced vehicle test facilities. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys working on complex test rigs, bespoke fixtures, and facility components that enable cutting-edge vehicle testing.
The Role You’ll be responsible for the design, validation and delivery of test rigs and facility components used across a wide range of engineering labs, including structural, durability, NVH, climatic, and safety testing. Projects will vary from component-level to full vehicle applications, giving you exposure to multiple disciplines.
Key Responsibilities Design test rigs and components using 3DX/Catia V6, from concept to delivery. Produce 2D manufacturing drawings for internal workshops and external suppliers. Liaise with internal customers to capture requirements and ensure rig capability. Work closely with fitters and supervisors during build and installation. Manage workload and deadlines to ensure timely project delivery. Review and validate junior engineers’ designs and drawings.
