Overview:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer with Building Services to join a growing and forward-thinking building services consultancy. This role will play a key part in shaping the development of our presence across Scotland and the North East, with a particular focus on Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle.

Initially remote, this role will evolve into a hybrid model as we establish our new Glasgow office. Youll be instrumental in driving projects forward while contributing to regional strategy, technical delivery, and business development.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead mechanical design across a variety of building services projects in commercial, education, healthcare, residential, and public sectors

Oversee the delivery and coordination of work across the Glasgow/Edinburgh and Newcastle regions

Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior engineers and regional project teams

Engage with clients, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery

Review and approve design calculations, specifications, and technical reports

Contribute to the strategic growth of the business, including support for bid writing and client relationship development

Ensure compliance with industry standards, legislation, and sustainability goals

Collaborate across disciplines and contribute to a positive and innovative company culture

About You:

Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward Chartership

Proven leadership in project delivery and team coordination

Strong technical expertise with a practical understanding of HVAC, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable design principles

Experience using design software such as IES, Hevacomp, Revit, and AutoCAD

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Ability to work independently and support growth across multiple locations
