Overview We are seeking an experienced

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

with a strong background in machinery design for

special purpose mechanical equipment ,

mechanical handling systems , and fabrication projects. The role will be based on a hybrid working arrangement between our Knowsley and Warrington offices. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to challenging, high-profile projects in the

nuclear sector , with a particular focus on equipment for

decommissioning environments .

Key Responsibilities Lead the design and development of bespoke mechanical machinery and handling systems, from concept through to manufacture. Produce detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using

CAD

and

SolidWorks

software. Prepare and review design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering reports. Ensure designs meet relevant nuclear industry standards, regulatory requirements, and client specifications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including project managers, structural engineers, and fabrication teams.
