About the Opportunity:

We are looking to recruit and develop career-minded people to bolster our well-established and growing multi-discipline engineering delivery capability to meet opportunities in the defence industry. Our projects include developing solutions in complex and exciting environments, supporting the UK nuclear submarine fleet, the air, land, and sea defence establishments, and both existing and new manufacturing facilities.

As demand for our services grows, you will provide mechanical support to key client projects within a smaller, growing Mechanical Engineering team based in Glasgow, Bristol, or Reading. This role offers exposure to a broad range of engineering areas and phases, with opportunities for career development tailored to your interests.

Preferred candidates will have experience in defence or a similar industry, or relevant mechanical design experience in a challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Provide mechanical engineering support during development and analysis of systems and equipment.
2. Produce documentation such as diagrams, technical specifications, calculations, and design justifications.
3. Lead and influence key design decisions with problem-solving skills.
4. Deliver professional engineering services, including design reviews and presentations.
5. Coordinate with cross-disciplinary teams and stakeholders.
6. Mentor and develop less experienced engineers.

Qualifications:

• BEng (Hons) / MEng or equivalent in a relevant STEM field.
• CEng or on a pathway to CEng; support available for accreditation.
• Strong technical report writing and professional attitude.
• Experience in mechanical system design and delivery throughout the lifecycle.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar software.
• Willingness to learn new systems and meet project goals.

Desirable Skills:

• Knowledge of design and safety standards, including Defence Standards.
• Experience in specifying mechanical systems and producing design deliverables like sizing calculations.
• Ability to liaise with other design disciplines.
• Willingness to travel and attend meetings to build relationships.
• UK nationality and ability to obtain SC security clearance.
