Overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Chartered Mechanical Engineer to work in the data centre sector. If you thrive on technically stimulating work and have a passion for cutting-edge projects, join our Building Engineering Team in London as a permanent member.

As part of our team, you’ll be involved in shaping some of the most innovative buildings worldwide. We work with major cloud services providers and large colocation and developer entities in the data centre industry. The Arup data centre team is a global network of Architects, Engineers and Specialist Consultants engaged on projects from feasibility through practical completion. While many projects are data-centre focused, there are opportunities in other Critical Facility projects including Healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Directing the comfort and thermal analysis of buildings and spaces
  • Supervising the spatial and technical coordination of building services and integration into the design
  • Managing the production of models, drawings, reports and specifications to budgets and deadlines
  • Supervising and coordinating the work of others, including other disciplines and in-house specialists

Qualifications

  • Chartered Engineer in Building Services with hands-on experience in systems, installations, and various project sectors (specifically data centres and mission critical)
  • Experience in guiding and developing others through mentorship, training, and constructive feedback
  • Knowledge and passion for sustainable building design, focusing on energy efficiency and carbon reduction; collaborative approach to achieve optimal outcomes
  • Strong commercial awareness with experience in predicting, planning, and managing resources to meet financial targets
  • Proficiency in energy modelling software (ideally IES) and 3D modelling software (Revit)
