Summary:

Working in the MEICA team of the South East Water (SEW) Engineering Department you will report to the Lead Mechanical Engineer and undertake corporate administration and technical line management of the
Mechanical engineers within the team. and Mechanical technical deliverables and design on capital engineering schemes.

As the senior mechanical engineer working on the client side, you will ensure that the mechanical elements of the design are correct, appropriate and of current best practice whilst ensuring compliance to the engineering standards and specifications. You will also be expected to challenge, innovate, and evolve the engineering standards and specifications as technology evolves. As well as overseeing the resourcing of the Mechanical engineers and fielding mechanical queries from the team and elsewhere in the business.

You will also be responsible for mechanical engineering output as part of a project team(s) on capital engineering schemes. You will be involved across all stages of project delivery, from feasibility, optioneering, scoping, design, through to construction and commissioning, as part of a multi-disciplinary
project team. You will input and contribute to technical deliverables on Capital Projects under direction from the respective Project Managers, in accordance with the requirements set down by the Lead MEICA Engineer and relevant asset standards.

You will be expected to manage and prioritise your own workload, both small and large scale projects, as well as effectively managing the workload of your team. You will adhere to Health and Safety/CDM requirements actively identifying hazards and working towards mitigation or removal of hazards and risk through engineering design. A key part of the role is building and maintaining collaborative relationships with your immediate peers and internal customers and stakeholders across other SEW departments, and
our framework contracting partners. As part of the role you will be required to represent South East Water at the WIMES mechanical working group meetings.

Although this role offers flexible/hybrid working (office/home), you will be expected to attend the South East Water Head Office in Snodland on a regular basis, and be able to travel to any location within our supply areas, as required, as part of the project(s) you or your team are working on e.g. pre-construction
and construction phase elements such as scoping or Contractor progress/design review meetings.

Compensation package:

From £54,000 dependent on experience plus £6,254 car allowance.
