The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experiencedMechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and integration of new plant into an existing facility. This role involves producing compliant design solutions, managing documentation, and providing technical support through installation and commissioning. We would also welcome applications from these industries: nuclear, defence, aerospace, oil & gas, or highly regulated manufacturing.

The Role

This role would suit candidates working in these roles: Mechanical Design Engineer, Plant Layout Engineer, Piping Designer, Project Design Engineer, Installation Design Engineer, Mechanical Integration Engineer, Senior Mechanical Engineer, CAD Design Engineer, Design Coordinator, or Technical Design Specialist.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

• Develop and update requirements documentation and feasibility studies for the plant installation.
• Produce a full design package for removal of existing equipment, facility service modifications, floor repairs, and containment solutions.
• Create technical specifications for bespoke components such as bunding or access platforms.
• Provide design support during installation and commissioning, including resolving technical queries and attending project meetings.
• Review and respond to technical documentation, design changes, and commissioning records within agreed timescales.

You will have the following qualifications and experience

• Proven experience delivering mechanical design solutions for complex plant or equipment installations.
• Strong understanding of regulated industry standards and governance processes.
• Ability to produce detailed design documentation and technical specifications.
• Experience supporting installation and commissioning phases of engineering projects.
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with project teams and stakeholders.
