Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to support nuclear decommissioning projects. The role will involve delivering mechanical engineering solutions across a variety of project phases, with a strong emphasis on design, approvals, and technical documentation. You will play a key role in developing and reviewing designs for special purpose machinery, fabrication, and wider mechanical engineering systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and contribute to the development of mechanical design solutions in line with project requirements and industry standards.
• Prepare, check, and approve technical drawings, calculations, and supporting documentation.
• Provide engineering input throughout the project lifecycle, from concept through to commissioning and handover.
• Liaise with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure design integration and compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality requirements.
• Support the production and review of design justifications, technical reports, and approval submissions.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.

Essential Experience & Qualifications:

• Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• Proven experience in the nuclear sector, with a strong understanding of industry standards and regulations.
• Demonstrable background in mechanical design, fabrication, and/or special purpose machinery.
• Strong ability to produce and review high-quality technical documentation.

Desirable Experience:

• Working towards Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or equivalent professional recognition.
• Previous experience in decommissioning projects.
• Evidence of success in a similar senior engineering role.
