Overview
Senior Mechanical Projects Engineer for a mechanical & electrical contractor delivering large-scale HVAC, BMS, UPS & Chiller/Cooling system retrofits for a datacentre/computer centre. Initial client/project value £25M+.
Location: Leeds or Sheffield office based with project delivery from these offices.
Responsibilities
- Develop system specifications and prepare construction drawings and documentation, plant and equipment schedules for mechanical HVAC systems.
- Prepare technical submissions and manage RFIs in communication with Project Managers.
- Place orders with suppliers and subcontractors; coordinate works with subcontractors.
- Manage whole contract costs from inception to final account; prepare and agree monthly applications for payments.
- Track project costs including labour and material expenditure and forecasts.
- Manage variations and additional works and their associated costs.
- Conduct site visits and inspections; attend client and subcontractor meetings.
- Resolve problems and issues during construction; organise commissioning and start-up of new systems.
- Prepare Operating and Maintenance literature; provide technical support to clients and training.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest HVAC technologies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Experience within the Building Services sector as a Mechanical Project Manager, Mechanical Contracts Manager, Mechanical Site Manager, MEP Manager or M&E Manager.
- HND / HNC or preferably a Bachelor's degree in HVAC mechanical engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the design and construction of mechanical HVAC systems.
- Strong understanding of HVAC principles and practices.
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

- Salary £50K-£60K plus package.
