Senior Mission Systems Engineer (Onboard Computing) – TieTalent

Location: Warton. Hybrid and flexible working arrangements available; please speak to your recruiter about options for this role.

Salary: £54,793 + depending on experience

Responsibilities

  • Support overall system designs for FCAS products and lead activities as part of the team developing computing architectures and computing hardware and software design solutions that feed into the FCAS programme.
  • Interface with other parts of the FCAS national and international organisation as a recognised holder of knowledge in areas such as systems architecting / concepting, IMA based computing approaches, MBSE, security/cryptography, system safety, HW / SW modelling & simulation, HW / SW tooling, and secure networking.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with internal and external customers, industry partners and suppliers in the UK and international locations (e.g., Japan and Italy).
  • Manage/coaching and development of less experienced team members.
  • Foster teamwork, collaboration and engagement across customers, partners, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Represent BAE Systems in Customer, Partner and Supplier meetings, working collaboratively to address engineering, schedule and cost challenges.
  • Identify and solve complex problems, balance business and customer requirements, and influence delivery streams to optimise engineering and business outputs.

Skills and qualifications

  • Degree qualification in a STEM discipline is ideal; HND/HNC or equivalent experience.
  • Proven knowledge of Systems Engineering and the Engineering Lifecycle, with experience applying this knowledge in an integrated platform involving safety and/or security activities.
  • Experience working with internal and external stakeholders at high levels of classification, nationally and internationally.
  • Direct experience with complex computing solutions in areas such as systems management, avionics/IMA-based solutions, systems integration, safety/security, and/or equivalent complex programmes.
  • Keen to learn and apply experience in developing pioneering solutions to meet challenging requirements while achieving performance and regulatory needs (safety, airworthiness, security).
  • Understanding of engineering and business processes and implications of decisions on time/cost/quality; able to support timely and accurate performance reporting.
  • Proven interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
