Senior Mission Systems Engineer (Onboard Computing) role at TieTalent

Salary: £54,793 + depending on experience

What you’ll be doing

• Working with a focus on the Onboard Computing Systems Domain, contribute to overall system designs for FCAS products and lead activities in developing computing architectures and computing hardware and software design solutions for the FCAS programme.
• Interface with other parts of the FCAS national and international organisation as a recognised holder of knowledge in areas such as systems architecting / concepting, MBSE, IMA based computing approaches, security/cryptography, system safety, HW / SW modelling & simulation, HW / SW Tooling, Complex Electronic Hardware and/or secure networking.
• Support establishing relationships that strengthen partnerships with internal and external customers, industry partners and suppliers in the UK and international locations (e.g., Japan and Italy).
• Manage/coach and develop less experienced team members; promote effective teamwork and engagement across customers, partners, suppliers and internal teams.
• Represent BAE Systems in Customer, Partner and Supplier meetings; collaborate to address engineering, schedule and cost challenges.
• Manage and solve complex problems, balance business and customer requirements, and influence delivery stream activities to optimise outputs.

Your skills and experiences

• Degree in a STEM discipline is ideal; alternatively HND/HNC or equivalent experience.
• Proven knowledge of Systems Engineering and the Engineering Lifecycle, typically in an integrated platform involving safety and/or security activities.
• Experience working with internal and external stakeholders at national and international levels with high levels of classification.
• Direct experience with complex computing solutions in areas such as systems management, avionics/IMA-based solutions, systems integration, safety/security, and/or equivalent complex programmes.
• A keenness to learn and apply experience in developing pioneering solutions to meet challenging requirements while achieving performance, safety, airworthiness and security needs.
• Experience of engineering and business processes, with understanding of time/cost/quality implications and capable of supporting timely and accurate performance reporting.
• Proven interpersonal and influencing skills; ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.

The Integrated Onboard Computing team

Current focus on advancing onboard computing solutions has created a need for experienced engineers to deliver early life system design concepts and principles feeding into FCAS. The team interfaces with other parts of the FCAS organisation and holds knowledge across systems architecting, MBSE, cryptography, cyber, and secure networking.
