We are looking for an outstanding Senior Network Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital, to assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles. You and your role

Our Senior Network Engineers provide operational support and carry out planned BAU work such as upgrades and failover exercises as well as provide input into service improvements. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you'll guide a team of capable engineers, support complex infrastructure, and drive innovation across Wi-Fi, On-Prem, and Cloud environments. Your expertise in network tooling (e.g. Wireshark, NetScout, BMC Entuity), Cloud and On-Prem infrastructure, NGFWs, load balancers and PKI will be key. Familiarity with Aruba Central, ClearPass, Arista CloudVision and network automation tools like Terraform, Ansible and Python are also desirable, but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Influential, with strong leadership and management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically, creatively, and independently to solve issues.
  • Excellent planning and implementation methodology.
  • Skilled Practitioner with extensive experience and proven track record in the understanding of ITSM processes.
  • Detailed working knowledge and practical experience of Network infra in Wifi, DC On-prem, Cloud, Next Generation Firewall, Load-balancing, and PKI technologies.
  • Significant demonstrable experience with network monitoring and analysis tooling.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on technical leadership with experience guiding a team of engineers.
  • Strong experience with Wi-Fi, On-Prem, and Cloud networking environments.
  • Proficiency with network tooling (e.g. Wireshark, NetScout, BMC Entuity).
  • Experience with NGFWs, load balancers and PKI; familiarity with Aruba Central, ClearPass, Arista CloudVision and network automation tools (Terraform, Ansible, Python) is desirable but not essential.

Pay and Benefits

Pay up to £68,517 plus 28.97% employer pension contributions, hybrid working, flexible hours, and great work life balance.

Hybrid Working: We work a hybrid model - you\'ll spend some time working at home and some time collaborating face to face in a hub.

Pension: You\'ll get a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions worth 28.97%, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays: A generous leave package starting at 26 days rising to 31 days over time. You can also take up to 3 extra days off a month on flexitime. You\'ll also get all the usual public holidays.
