Senior Network Operations Engineer

Be-IT are working with a well-established organization in Glasgow to recruit a Senior Network Operations Engineer on a full-time, permanent basis in Glasgow. This role can be worked through a hybrid model - two days a week in the office required.
Purpose of the Role:
As a Network Operations Engineer, you will design, build, and maintain the infrastructure platforms that support business applications and data systems. Working across hardware, software, networks, and cloud platforms, you will ensure that the infrastructure is reliable, scalable, and secure. You will apply software engineering techniques, automation, and best practices in monitoring and incident response to maintain the availability and performance of critical systems.
Key Accountabilities:
- Engineering & Delivery: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality infrastructure solutions that meet business needs, with measurable improvements in reliability, performance, and ease of use. Select and implement the most appropriate technologies to optimize resources and support long-term business goals.
- Incident Management: Monitor infrastructure and system performance to proactively identify, resolve, and prevent issues or outages. Use data-driven insights to reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR) and improve resilience.
- Automation: Develop and implement automated processes and workflows to enhance efficiency, reduce manual intervention, and increase consistency, using modern scripting and coding practices.
- Security: Ensure infrastructure security through robust configuration, vulnerability management, and proactive defense against cyber threats. Safeguard systems, hardware, and data from unauthorized access.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, architects, and engineers across functions to define infrastructure requirements, deliver effective solutions, and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Continuous Learning: Keep up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies, and contribute to internal communities to promote technical excellence and knowledge sharing.
About Network Operations:
Network Operations delivers a wide range of functions, including operational support (L1–L3), service management, product management, engineering, automation, and tooling. The team supports a variety of network components such as LAN, WAN, ADC, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, wireless, SDN, automation, and proxy services.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong experience in network operational support within a large enterprise or financial institution.
- Proven ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
- Solid knowledge of LAN and WAN technologies and protocols, as well as security technologies such as Fortigate FW & IDS, Fortigate FMG/FAZ, Cisco ASA, and Cisco Tetration.
Additional Skills and Qualifications:
- CCNP certification (or equivalent knowledge/experience).
- Experience working within large, multi-site, multi-protocol LAN and WAN environments.
- Hands-on expertise with MPLS, multicast, QoS, and wireless technologies.

- up to £67.5k base + annual bonus
