Role Overview
The role of the Network Operations Engineer is to support expanding network project requirements for various clients. Responsibilities will include design, deployment/implementation, and post-deployment testing and remediation. The position will be primarily remote, with occasional on-site presence (Crawley, England) required during key project phases. Additionally, the role involves supporting and backfilling the Technical Manager in resource planning and tracking overall project progress.
Functions and tasks
- Recognized as a subject matter expert within the organization, demonstrating deep knowledge and expertise in the discipline
- Leads large-scale projects and strategic initiatives
- Responsible for new service design and client onboarding/setup
- Resolves unique and complex issues with significant impact on the customer environment
- Owns risk management and escalation processes
- Prepares senior management reports, including root cause analysis and proactive remediation plans
- Serves as a technical authority, actively contributing to solution design
- Manages communication with customers on complex technical matters and provides recommendations for process, product, or service improvements; capable of engaging with stakeholders at all levels, including CIO
- Ensures strict adherence to security and data protection policies and procedures
- Oversees the escalation process, ensuring timely and appropriate communication with both internal teams and customer management
- Responsible for configuring and deploying network equipment
- Drives HPE value-added service enhancements through continuous innovation and process improvement
- Troubleshoots hardware and firmware issues across all networking infrastructure
Required skills and attributes
- Aruba / HPE Network accreditation minimum Professional, ideally Expert
- Proven extensive networking background, minimum 5 years experience
- Exceptional customer service skills including the ability to simplify technical detail
- Highly organised with the ability to work in a fast-paced, structured manner to meet tight deadlines
- Confident, collaborative working style and able to interface with people of all levels
- Proactive approach to work activities & support of colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to recognise and react to situations with a sense of urgency and problem ownership
- Must have a strong understanding of all major aspects of systems and network equipment HW and FW/SW & knowledge of multiple platforms
- Must have knowledge of Palo Alto & Fortinet Firewalls
