Senior Network Operations Engineer at DWP Digital. We are looking for an outstanding Senior Network Engineer to join our community of tech experts in DWP Digital, to assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles.

Location and working model

Location: Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle (hybrid model).

Hybrid Working: Some time at home and some time in a hub.

Pay and benefits

Base pay: Up to £68,517 plus 28.97% employer pension contributions.

Pension: 28.97% employer contributions, worth over £16,000 per year.

Holidays: 26 days rising to 31 days, with up to 3 extra flexi-days per month plus public holidays.

Responsibilities

The Senior Network Engineers provide operational support and carry out planned BAU work such as upgrades and failover exercises, and provide input into service improvements. This is a hands-on technical leadership role guiding a team of engineers and driving innovation across Wi-Fi, On-Prem, and Cloud environments. You will work with network tooling (e.g., Wireshark, NetScout, BMC Entuity), Cloud and On-Prem infrastructure, NGFWs, load balancers and PKI. Familiarity with Aruba Central, ClearPass, Arista CloudVision and network automation tools like Terraform, Ansible and Python is desirable but not essential.

Your expertise will help maintain and improve infrastructure and services, ensuring high reliability and performance.

Qualifications and skills

  • Influential leadership and management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities; able to think critically, creatively, and independently.
  • Excellent planning and implementation methodology.
  • Extensive experience with ITSM processes.
  • Detailed working knowledge of network infrastructure (Wi-Fi, on-prem, cloud, next-generation firewall, load-balancing, PKI).
  • Significant experience with network monitoring and analysis tooling.
  • Familiarity with network tooling and automation concepts (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Python) is desirable.
