If you are ready to be a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer, we invite you to join our team. We seek individuals with strong technical and communication skills, who thrive in solving complex nuclear and defence safety problems and enjoy working in multidisciplinary teams. Your purpose:
Assist in delivering major defence-related programmes across the UK, including infrastructure design and construction, upgrades, operations, and decommissioning. Your involvement will include:
- Shaping the nuclear safety case strategy.
- Collaborating with project partners for safety-informed design.
- Engaging stakeholders for ‘Right First Time’ delivery.
- Conducting safety assessments and analysis.
- Producing safety reports and technical documents.
While your base will be in Bristol, Manchester, Aldershot, Silchester, or Glasgow, flexibility is essential as work may require site visits.
Responsibilities:
Provide safety case support throughout the lifecycle of facilities or operations, ensuring compliance with Licence and Authorization Conditions. Lead technical activities such as:
- Hazard and Fault Identification Studies (e.g., HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA)
- Hazard Assessments (Qualitative and Quantitative)
- Radiological Hazard Assessments
- Safety Case Report production (e.g., PSR, PCSR)
- ALARP Assessments
- Support engineering substantiation
- Coordinate with regulatory bodies (e.g., ONR, DNSR)
- Develop and review Safety Management Arrangements
- Lead Safety Case teams and activities
As a senior engineer, mentorship, bid support, safety initiatives, and network building are expected.
What you bring:
- Proven safety track record, preferably in defence or nuclear sectors.
- Career growth ambition and adaptability.
- Knowledge expansion enthusiasm and problem-solving skills.
- Interest in digital applications in nuclear safety.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Degree in physics, mechanical engineering, or related field (2:1 minimum).
- Chartered status or working towards it.
- Experience in nuclear/defence engineering principles.
- Excellent report writing and team leadership skills.
- Ability to meet delivery targets without compromising quality.
- Eligibility for Security Clearance.
