Principal/Manager – Performance Engineering (Full-time, Remote – UK). We are working with a high-growth global fintech, renowned for delivering world-class payments-related software and technology. This is a greenfield opportunity to shape a Performance Engineering function, drive strategy, define architecture, and foster a performance-first culture aligned with the company’s growth and product vision.

What You’ll Do

You will design and execute a performance testing strategy across a hybrid cloud/on-premise infrastructure. Whether you’re a technical leader or a people manager, your focus will be on enabling scalable, high-performance systems that support real-world merchant use cases.

  • Architect performance test environments and lead the execution of load, stress, and soak testing.
  • Define and evolve the performance engineering strategy in partnership with Engineering, DevOps, and TechOps teams.
  • Implement shift-left performance practices to catch bottlenecks early and ensure SLAs are met.
  • Analyse production traffic patterns to design accurate and predictive test scenarios.
  • Develop tools for synthetic load generation and guide infrastructure tuning for optimal performance.
  • Provide visibility across the organisation with insights that drive decisions and improvements.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience (8–10+ years) in performance testing of enterprise-grade applications.
  • Strong background in designing and executing performance strategies for web services, APIs, and databases (PostgreSQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.).
  • Hands-on expertise with tools like JMeter, Blazemeter, K6, Kibana, Cloudflare, and modern monitoring solutions.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation, etc.).
  • Ability to translate business and non-functional requirements into robust performance models.
  • Strong analytical mindset, able to identify bottlenecks and provide clear, actionable tuning recommendations.
  • For leadership candidates: 4+ years managing high-performing teams and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • For technical principals: Demonstrated ability to lead technically, mentor others, and drive tooling and process innovation.
