Senior Platform Engineer — Responsibilities

  • Join and contribute as an experienced Platform Engineer to support growth in the UK Government sector.
  • Collaborate with a mix of generalists and specialists to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Design, build and deploy scalable platforms; participate in architecture discussions.
  • Utilise CI/CD tools to streamline delivery of features and fixes.
  • Engage in automated testing and code quality practices (e.g., static analysis with tools like SonarQube).
  • Follow Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Lean, Kanban) and apply common software design patterns.
  • Apply creativity and precedent to solve clients’ challenges.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Programming in one or more of JavaScript, Java, .NET, Python.
  • Experience designing and building PoCs or production systems.
  • Source control with Git, Mercurial, or Perforce.
  • Proficiency with CI/CD tools (e.g., Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, Bitbucket).
  • Automated testing frameworks and continuous quality practices.
  • Static code analysis and code quality tooling (e.g., SonarQube).
  • Experience working in an Agile environment.
  • Knowledge of common software design patterns.

Nice-to-have: cloud and ML experience, containerisation, and various database systems.

  • Machine Learning software such as AWS/Azure ML or TensorFlow.
  • Cloud deployments with AWS or Microsoft Azure; containerisation with Docker/Kubernetes.
  • Relational, document, or graph databases.
  • Software config and deployment tooling (e.g., Ansible).

Security Clearance
