Based in our Manchester office, you will be part of a hardworking and growing team of Transport & Infrastructure Engineers/Consultants. Our office is based in an excellent location within easy reach of the local stations, with parking easily available nearby. You will be part of a wider National team to help drive successful delivery of projects and uphold our core business values.
We work on projects across the country with the Wider Transport & Infrastructure Team, currently managing a diverse portfolio including local authority frameworks, active travel, infrastructure development (S278, S38, S104), mixed-use residential developments, flood risk assessments, and technical and construction assurance.
Main Duties And Responsibilities
- Implement project requirements to fully meet the client specification in accordance with relevant standards
- Collate project information, liaise with clients and third parties as required
- Supervise site-based projects as required
- Lead project delivery and supervise/delegate to junior staff and others as required
- Check/approve own and other staff work, including third party design proposals
- Integrate into an established team and drive the team culture
What Qualifications, Experience & Skills are required
Essential
- BEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- Association of Project Management Qualification (or equivalent)
- Professional membership or accreditation to ICE, CIHT or APM
Experience
- Significant experience in engineering and design management of projects to time, cost and quality
- Proven experience in highway design, construction, and supervision
- Knowledge of highway design standards, construction practices, asset management, and relevant legislation
- Strong Health and Safety understanding including CDM responsibilities
- Day to day management and leadership of project design including oversight of designs produced by consultants and input from other disciplines
- Development of design solutions to traffic/local road problems (alignment, drainage, pavement, Road Restraint System, signs & markings)
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Client liaison and management
- Use of Common Data Environments & BIM levels & strategy
- AutoCAD & Civils 3D for horizontal and vertical alignment design
- Singing & Lining designs to TSRGD
- Pavement & footway designs
- Drainage design
Skills
- Ability to work under pressure with good organisational skills to plan and manage a complex workload with shifting deadlines
- Experience in a fast-paced design and project/programme management environment, delivering sustainable results in a large organisation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for outcomes-focused solutions to complex situations
- Ability to design highway engineering solutions and use modelling/analysis software
- Development of Highways Specifications
- Civils 3D
- Experience with drainage design and analytical modelling tools (desirable)
- Clear, confident communication to explain complex data to non-specialists
- Commitment to continuous professional development and embodying organisational values
- Experience managing project workloads, finances, and ensuring compliance with briefs and budgets
- Development of Highways Specifications including MCHW
- Utility coordination and clash detection
- Management of project teams
- Experience mentoring and developing less experienced staff
- Sound understanding of commercial management and business focus
