Senior/ Principal Engineer - Tunnel Systems role at WSP.
What you will do
Join our industry-leading Intelligent Infrastructure team to design and advise clients on next-generation technology for transport systems.
WSP’s Tunnel Systems capability provides end-to-end tunnel asset design and advisory services, transforming the integration of tunnel systems design and delivery with a safety-by-design philosophy and operations.
Using your technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, road tunnel operations and safety, you will help deliver new build and refurbishment tunnel systems projects across road, rail and utilities in the UK and beyond for clients including Local Authorities, National Highways and National Grid.
Collaborate with other designers and WSP multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality outputs that meet the client’s expectations.
What we will be looking for you to demonstrate
A proven technical capability in the design, operation or delivery of tunnel systems including electrical, mechanical, fire life safety, communications, and control systems.
Experience of working to applicable UK standards.
An understanding of tunnel operational procedures and practices.
Professional registration with an accredited institute preferred; if you are on a route to professional registration, you will be supported through a mentor and Professional Registration Advisors to achieve Chartered Engineer status.
A proven track record of working collaboratively with internal and external partners on integrated highway technology projects.
Practical understanding of infrastructure design systems, including BIM, AutoCAD (or similar), ProjectWise and SharePoint.
Ability to motivate, develop and lead junior team members.
Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated when undertaking tasks.
