Overview

We're expanding our Geo Division in Birmingham and are seeking a Senior/Principal Geotechnical Consultant to join us. Geo is a core discipline within Stantec, with support from executive leaders who have risen through our ranks. Responsibilities

  • Advise on scoping site investigations, interpretation of field data, production of geotechnical design reports (GDRs) and Earthworks Specifications (EWS) to CD622 and EC7 standards.
  • Design and supervise earthworks including large-scale earthworks, surcharging, ground improvements, and interactions with remediation teams.
  • Develop pioneering systems and viable alternatives to standard approaches, including work on challenging brownfield sites.
  • Collaborate with the geotechnical design team and support to deliver projects across renewables, commercial and aviation sectors.
  • Write clear and comprehensive interpretive geotechnical reports.
  • Specify geotechnical testing (in situ and laboratory) and interpret results.
  • Prepare proposals and contribute to business development as appropriate.

About You / Qualifications

  • BEng/BSc or higher in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering; Chartered Membership or MSc in Geotechnical Engineering with relevant qualifications; alternative Geology degree with MSc Geotechnical.
  • Strong background in UK-based design practices, soil mechanics and soil/structure interaction.
  • Experience with ground investigation techniques and geotechnical testing specification.
  • Experience designing, supervising and verifying earthworks, foundations, ground improvement, slopes, embankments, nails, anchors, embedded walls; experience with earthworks projects is desirable.
  • Proficiency in software: Oasys Pile, Alp, PDisp, Adsec, ADC, Rocscience Slide, WALLAP, AutoCAD, Excel; Plaxis 3D a plus.
  • Proven ability to write interpretive geotechnical reports.
