Senior / Principal Mechanical Building Services EngineerAt AtkinsRéalis Building Design Practice, we are looking for an experienced Senior / Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Manchester. This role involves delivering engineering design solutions to clients across the UK, with opportunities to work on a diverse range of projects in a national practice and through our Global Technology Centre.ResponsibilitiesUndertake the design and specification of all Mechanical Building Services systems from concept through to detailed design – including heating, cooling, ventilation and public health systems.Carry out and support others in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Hevacomp, MEPworx, IES.Prepare technical specifications, design reports and presentations.Collaborate with the BIM team to prepare models and drawings, with a working understanding of Revit.Represent AtkinsRéalis at meetings with clients and other professionals.Conduct condition surveys, inspections and monitoring of installation and commissioning.Manage own workload and ensure projects are delivered to agreed deadlines and budgets.Assist with the technical development of junior team members.What You Can BringRelevant experience of Building Services Engineering with an interest in design excellence for building design.Degree qualified, or equivalent qualification, in Building Services Engineering/Mechanical Engineering, or related subjects.Working towards, or a Chartered Member of CIBSE, IMechE or equivalent body.Experience with common calculation software such as IES, Hevacomp, StabiCAD, Revit, NBS and Microsoft products. Knowledge of thermal modelling for building compliance and design optimisation is beneficial.Detailed knowledge of UK technical standards and codes of practice.Familiar with energy reduction methods and decarbonising approaches for new and existing buildings.Understanding of energy and carbon data capture and analytics.Competent in designing for measurement and verification, including commissioning and post-installation evaluation of performance.Why work for AtkinsRéalis?We’re committed to engineering better for people and the planet, with initiatives such as our Net-Zero programme and social value through EDAROTH community housing.
