Overview

As a Senior Principal Stress Engineer at Safran Electrical & Power, you will play a vital role within the Engineering team, leading on simulation work packages. You will directly influence product awareness and competitiveness and contribute to budget identification in conjunction with program and engineering managers. You will use and develop a diverse range of techniques to perform simulations, analyses and evaluations of components, assemblies and products, covering the full product design process from initial opportunities through to successful operation.

Responsibilities

  • Drive forward simulation work packages, planning schedules and milestones for the project
  • Coordinate with outsourced work packages and liaise with external organisations and their personnel
  • Carry out thermal, vibration, structural Finite Element Analysis using Ansys Workbench
  • Perform simulations, analyses and evaluations of components, assemblies and products using various tools and techniques (e.g., hand calculations, FE analysis of static structural, dynamic, modal, vibration, thermal and stress)
  • Solve technical problems relating to product design to achieve programme objectives
  • Support long-range planning for the simulation and means team to develop team members and processes
  • Provide training and guidance on stress, vibration, fatigue and rotor dynamics to grow skills across the design community

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Solid understanding of product, assembly and component analysis with experience of Ansys Workbench
  • Ability to perform advanced stress hand calculations and linear/non-linear structural analysis, dynamic, modal, vibration, thermal and stress analysis
  • Experience of LS-Dyna and N-Code
  • Experience of rotary dynamics
  • Good knowledge of CAD tools and their capabilities
  • Experience of supervising others
  • Effective project management with client relationship management and commercial skills
  • Ability to produce competent technical reports
  • Good knowledge of materials and their properties in engineering design
  • Experience in the aerospace industry would be beneficial
  • Awareness of CFD analysis would be beneficial
  • Evidence of written English at interview stage
