Join our Nuclear & Power Division as a Senior Probabilistic Safety Analysis (PSA) Engineer. You will contribute to designing complex new schemes to protect our clients’ assets, with opportunities to grow across a diverse range of projects. Responsibilities

  • Play an active role in the design and operation of nuclear reactors and other facilities to optimise designs and reduce risks.
  • Provide consultancy advice to Clients in the nuclear industry and lead the development and delivery of PSA models.
  • Analyse and interpret PSA results, support critical decision-making, and report outcomes through high-quality technical reports.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, to manage expectations and ensure safety standards.
  • Contribute to the wider Nuclear Safety community within AtkinsRéalis, leveraging global engineering expertise.
  • Mentor others in a technical capacity, assist in bids and proposals, and contribute to safety initiatives.
  • Demonstrate motivation for safety and innovative thinking, with a focus on risk assessment for nuclear facilities and proactive client liaison.
  • Lead technical teams and take responsibility for project delivery while developing your skills and experience.

What you can bring

  • University degree in a relevant subject.
  • Strong background in nuclear safety and hazard assessment.
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and interpersonal skills with a desire to develop others.
  • Technical practitioner with sound engineering judgment and extensive experience in fundamental engineering skills.
  • Ability to produce and review high-quality technical reports with a track record of delivering complex projects.
  • Motivated and focused on meeting delivery and cost targets without compromising quality.

Experience topics and techniques include

  • Understanding of nuclear safety principles.
  • Experience with Level 1 and Level 2 PSA models.
  • Experience using PSA software (e.g., RiskSpectrum, Reliability Workbench, CAFTA).
  • Human Reliability Assessment skills.
  • Knowledge of Light Water Reactor technology (civil and naval PWRs).
  • Experience of Hazard PSA modelling (Seismic, Fire, Flood).
  • Awareness of Level 3 PSA techniques and software (e.g., COSYMA, PACE).
  • Experience in developing Severe Accident Management Guidelines (SAMG).
