Description
As a Senior Process Engineer, you are a confident analyser and decision-maker. Motivated by a drive for improvement, you play a key role in optimising processes and confidently support a team of technically-minded individuals. This role is about being a key, valuable member of the Hope Operational Team, working together to constantly improve. You will drive process optimisation, and manage the Process Engineering team day to day, guiding them to deliver efficient and sustainable clinker and cement production. You will have experience of: problem-solving; monitoring, analysing and optimising processes; evaluating equipment and technology; ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations; and providing technical training and support in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Team management: Personal Development Plans, KPIs, targets, incentives, action plans
- Process Optimisation: Evaluate and optimise the manufacturing processes involved in cement production, including raw material preparation, grinding, pyroprocessing, and cement grinding.
- Troubleshooting and Problem-solving: Identify and resolve operational issues and process inefficiencies, utilising analytical techniques and engineering principles to achieve optimal performance and minimise downtime.
- Process Monitoring: Monitor and analyse key process and quality parameters, such as temperature, pressure, flow rates and chemical composition, to ensure adherence to quality standards and troubleshoot abnormalities promptly.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement process improvement initiatives, such as optimising energy consumption, reducing emissions, and enhancing productivity.
- Safety and Environmental Compliance: Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and other relevant legal requirements. Identify and implement measures to mitigate potential risks and improve environmental performance.
- Equipment and Technology Evaluation: Evaluate existing equipment and technologies and recommend improvements, upgrades or replacements projects to enhance process efficiency and productivity.
- Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, maintain accurate documentation of processes, procedures and projects. Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Training and Development: Provide technical training and support to plant operators, promoting a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
- Degree in Chemical & Process Engineering (or related)
- NEBOSH National General Certificate (or equivalent)
- Proven experience in cement industry or heavy industry
- Experience supervising technical teams

- Knowledge and experience of high level control systems and use to optimise running plant
- Technical understanding of pyroprocessing and combustion
- Energy management knowledge and experience (i.e. KPI monitoring and associated improvement plans/projects)
- Good knowledge of process control methods and statistical troubleshooting methods
