A leading UK-based electronics manufacturer based in Hampshire is seeking a Senior Process Engineer to join its growing Power Electronics division. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work on the design, development, and optimisation of advanced microelectronic and power electronics assembly processes used in high-reliability and mission-critical applications.
About the Role
The Senior Process Engineer will lead early-stage process design and development, working closely with product development teams to ensure new products are designed for efficient, high-quality manufacture. You will oversee process experimentation, define best practices, and create standard operating procedures to support production readiness. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading problem-solving and root cause analysis activities.
Key Responsibilities for the Senior Process Engineer job:
* Lead process design and development for power and microelectronic assemblies, including tooling, fixtures, and test equipment.
* Apply structured methodologies such as PFMEA, DoE, and Design for Manufacture (DfM).
* Create and maintain process documentation and standard operating procedures.
* Conduct root cause analysis (8D) and implement corrective actions.
* Manage and mentor a small team of Process Engineers.
* Drive continuous improvement and ensure compliance with quality standards (ISO9001, IATF16949, IPC).
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimise processes, quality, and efficiency.
Skills & experience for the Senior Process Engineer job:
* Degree (2:1 or higher ) in Mechanical, Electrical, or Production Engineering, or related discipline.
* At least 10 years’ industry experience in process development within a high-technology or electronics manufacturing environment.
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process capability, and tolerancing.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD for the design of jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach.
* Proven leadership and team coordination experience.
* Knowledge of ISO9001, IATF16949, and continuous improvement methodologies.
