Overview

MRI Software is hiring a Senior Testing Specialist to play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products. This position focuses on executing thorough software testing to maintain MRI’s standards of excellence. As a member of a Scrum team, the Senior Testing Specialist will be responsible for defining test data, test scripts, executing test scripts and reporting the results of testing. The role is based in the London, Sleaford or Birmingham office with a hybrid working model and remote work options.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Test Design & Execution: Identify both positive and negative test scenarios based on requirements. Create relevant test data and develop test scripts, requesting peer reviews when appropriate.
  • Impact Analysis: Assess the potential impact of new or updated requirements on existing functionality.
  • Team Collaboration: Provide guidance and support to both onshore and offshore team members to ensure smooth progress of testing activities.
  • Effort Estimation: Deliver accurate test effort estimates upon request, covering data preparation, scripting, and execution phases.
  • Quality Assurance: Perform all necessary testing types to confirm the application meets release standards and is fit for purpose.
  • Environment & Data Planning: Prepare test environments and data ahead of execution to ensure readiness.
  • Defect Management: Log bugs and defects with detailed reproduction steps and follow through to resolution.
  • Progress Reporting: Communicate testing progress and any blockers to the Head of QA, Programme Release Manager, and Scrum Master.

What We’re Looking For

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Non-Domestic Rates (NDR) within the Revenues & Benefits domain.
  • Proven ability to apply a range of testing techniques to ensure comprehensive application coverage.
  • Strong understanding of both the customer perspective and the business domain.
  • Skilled in reviewing existing processes and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent analytical and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communicator with strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Collaborative team player who contributes to group success.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to handle challenges constructively.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience of the MRI Revenues and Benefits products (Previously Capita ONE)
  • Experience using Azure DevOps
  • Experience using Test Management tools e.g. Jira to design, execute, and monitor test cases.
  • Understanding of databases, operating systems, and internet browsers.
  • Familiarity with accessibility testing to ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
  • Exposure to non-functional testing, including performance and penetration testing.
  • ISTQB or ISEB Foundation in Software Testing certification.
