Senior Radio Frequency Engineer

Job Description

We’re supporting a long-standing client in the defence and security sector who are hiring a Senior RF Engineer to contribute to a range of cutting-edge technology programmes based in Cambridge.

As a Senior RF Engineer, you'll be involved in everything from concept and simulation through to prototype and lab validation, working on advanced electronics and RF systems that have real-world national impact. This isn’t your typical product cycle work - you’ll be part of a compact, highly-skilled team working across multi-disciplinary challenges with a focus on innovation, rapid prototyping, and practical application.

The work is varied and intellectually stimulating, combining elements of RF PCB design, system-level analysis, and hands-on lab testing. Ideal candidates will bring experience in RF/microwave circuit design and simulation, along with a solid grasp of wider electronic system development.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience in RF/electronics development
  • Strong background in RF PCB design and characterisation
  • Proficiency with design/simulation tools such as ADS, CST, or Microwave Office
  • A relevant degree in electronics, physics, or a related field

Additional experience in any of the following areas would be highly desirable:

  • Microwave and RF systems for radar or communications
  • Antenna design and integration
  • Digital signal processing
  • High-speed digital PCB layout
  • Test scripting in MATLAB, Python or similar

Candidates with defence or security project experience are preferred, though this isn’t essential - we’re open to applicants from a range of backgrounds if they bring the right technical depth and problem-solving mindset.

Why consider this?

This client is growing fast and investing heavily in new technologies. You’ll be given meaningful technical responsibility from day one, backed by a highly collaborative culture. The team operates out of modern labs and offices just outside Cambridge, and benefits include a generous 10% employer pension contribution, private medical for you and your family, enhanced leave policies, EV leasing, and more.

Due to the nature of the work, you must be a UK citizen or otherwise eligible for UK security clearance. Please note: sponsorship is not available for this position.
