In-person participation is required throughout the year; Coinbase is not remote-only.What you’ll be doing (job duties)The Security Operations group is a multi-functional organization that includes CSIRT, Trust & Safety, Threat Intelligence, and Insider Threat. You’ll generally be responsible for:Building and implementing detections, protections, security controls, and automations to deter insider threats and strengthen overall security postureTesting and maintaining security tooling, particularly for endpoint detection and investigationCollaborating cross-functionally with Security, Infrastructure, IT, and Legal to obtain technical information and evaluate downstream impactsLinking disparate information for aggregation, visualization, and interpretation of threat indicatorsAssisting with investigations as needed, including rapidly building tools or extending capabilities to aid response effortsWhat we look for in you (job requirements)You’ll be more successful if these descriptions fit you:Experience designing and implementing Insider Threat technologies (e.g., SIEM, UEBA, DLP) and understanding of investigations and the intelligence cycleComfort manipulating logs, tables, and data lakes to engineer custom detections and dashboardsMastery of SQL and coding languages like Python; experience creating custom alerts and automations with SOARAbility to work cross-functionally with infrastructure, IT, and response teams to design and implement technical controlsAwareness of the insider threat landscape and understanding of legal, regulatory, and ethical considerationsDiscretion, thoughtfulness, and tendency to coordinate systemic, cross-functional risk mitigationAbility to translate complex problems into byte-sized, readily implemented (and preferably automated) solutionsExcellent verbal and written communication; ability to compose briefs and assessments for leadership and trainingTeam-oriented, comfortable as both novice and expertEmpathy and trustworthiness to tackle security problems without judgment5–10+ years of combined experience in security/technology or related analytic rolesNice to haveDiverse perspective and unconventional career path welcomedFamiliarity with blockchains, cryptocurrency, and on-chain projectsExperience crafting metrics that make the intangible tangibleExperience in one or more of: incident response, data protection, risk management, counterintelligence, fraud detection, IP theft, access and identity management, or IT engineeringJob #: P72585Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position can range as detailed below.
