Overview

Senior Software Engineer, DevOps - Citi. XiP is building a next-generation cross-asset calculation system for Citi trading desks and enterprise users in global financial markets. The team owns multiple Java Spring Boot services that execute, partition, and track quantitative risk graphs/trades in a distributed environment. XiP Compute Services are deployed on OpenShift and EKS, with ongoing initiatives to onboard GKE. The system scales on-demand and can run thousands of replicas across asset classes.

Role Overview

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to fill the role of Applications Development Technology Lead Analyst on the XiNG large-scale distributed calculation platform (XiP). You will design, build, and maintain deployment systems and cloud infrastructure for our large-scale distributed systems. You will work closely with software engineers, DevOps, and vendors to ensure reliable, secure, and scalable delivery of our platform.

Responsibilities

• Build cloud infrastructure in our new Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments for a Greenfield project to replicate the XiP platform, focusing on resilience, scalability, and business continuity.
• Architect, provision, and manage scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructure in GCP.
• Build cloud infrastructure in AWS environments; continue to evolve and maintain a large-scale parallel compute environment, implementing best practices for storage, compute, and security; monitor and optimize resource usage to support distributed risk calculation workloads.
• Serve as advisor or coach to team members; mentor mid-level developers, conduct code reviews, and support career development; allocate tasks and foster a collaborative, growth-oriented culture.
• Collaborate with internal and external vendors to evaluate, select, and integrate new technologies; participate in architecture reviews and proof-of-concept initiatives; ensure alignment with compliance and operational requirements.
• Automate the processes of building and deploying the XiP platform; design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines with quality gates and rollback mechanisms.
• Operationally support XiP infrastructure; monitor health, performance, and security; perform maintenance, upgrades, and patching; respond to incidents and document procedures; provide training as needed.
• Provide hands-on support to XiP clients, addressing application and infrastructure issues; monitor system health, resolve performance bottlenecks or outages, and communicate findings to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Multiple years of relevant experience in applications development or systems analysis.
• Extensive experience building cloud infrastructure in a public cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure, etc.).
• Background delivering successful large-scale infrastructure projects.
• Ability to manage and deliver projects while handling competing priorities.
• Demonstrated leadership and project management skills; clear and concise written and verbal communication.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Master’s degree preferred.
