Senior Software Engineer - Product at Count. We are a remote-first company focused on reimagining analytics and making data accessible to all. The Count canvas combines data notebooks with collaborative workflows, often described as the “Figma for data.” Since our launch in September 2022, Count has empowered leading tech companies to transform how teams understand and work with data.

Compensation Range: £100K - £140K

What you'll do

  • Work as an experienced software engineer on deep technical challenges in data analytics. As an early hire, you’ll shape Count’s future direction and ship entire features.
  • Operate autonomously on business-critical projects within a small, flat team structure, collaborating with colleagues and the user base.
  • Contribute to the tech stack including TypeScript, Python, Node, WebAssembly, WebGL, Apache Arrow, DuckDB, Kubernetes and React.
  • Develop in-house technologies such as a custom WebGL rendering engine, a data visualization library, a reactive SQL/Python notebook, and a database query framework.
  • Work on projects such as accelerating rendering with quadtree tiling, extending interactivity and customizability of visualizations, leveraging LLMs in data exploration, and developing serverless frameworks for high-concurrency database queries.

Qualifications

  • Have at least 4 years of professional experience shipping features as a full-stack engineer
  • Experience working in a high-growth startup
  • Love inventing solutions to complex technical challenges
  • Passion for creating amazing user experiences
  • Comfortable working autonomously and taking responsibility for delivering large technical projects
  • Eager to learn from others and collaborate to help others learn
  • Want to shape the future of data analytics and visualization

Interview process

  • An initial discussion (30-45 mins) to ask questions about Count and discuss experience and interests
  • A working session with two engineers (90-120 mins) to explore the stack and address a recent technical challenge
  • A final meeting with the founders (45-60 mins)

The working session and final meeting may be conducted virtually or in London, depending on location.
