Job Description

We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our Recommend team in the London office.

The Recommend team builds and owns the recommendation experience that allows customers to recommend Wise to their friends and family and brings new customers to Wise through the recommendations. From building referral platforms, to creating smooth onboarding experience for referred customers and building reward mechanisms, we own the whole journey until the first international money needs are met.

Our team is diverse and is made of software engineers, data analysts, and designers and more that collaborate on a daily basis to continuously improve customer experience with recommendation journey at Wise.

We are looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to help us evolve and scale our recommendation platform and reward mechanisms for our customers all over the world. You will get the opportunity to build the systems, APIs and product experiences that help us shape the first experience of many of our soon-to-be-new customers.

Responsibilities

• Own and evolve the recommendation platform and reward mechanisms
• Build systems and APIs to support onboarding for referred customers and first international money experiences
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, data, and design to improve the recommendation journey
• Deliver features from planning to release and monitor adoption

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in Java or Kotlin (or other JVM based language)
• Strong experience with Spring framework, relational databases, distributed and concurrent systems (Kafka)
• Experience collaborating with product managers, data scientists, data analysts, engineers and other product teams
• Experience writing testable code and testing strategies (unit and integration testing)
• Strong coding practices, code reviews and open feedback
• Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences
• Desire to improve team culture and processes
• Strong product mindset and focus on customer experience with data-driven decisions
• Ability to work independently on customer problems and take end-to-end ownership

First six months

• Onboard and understand team, squad and guild vision and how you can contribute
• Understand the Fintech domain and Wise’s tech culture
• Develop new features from planning to release and monitor adoption
• Participate in two quarterly plannings and propose ideas to advance the product
