Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Development Expertise: Proficiency in multiple programming languages such as Java, Node.js, and Python, with experience across the entire technical stack including frontend, backend, APIs, databases, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Cloud and DevOps Proficiency: Strong knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS and Azure, and hands-on experience with cloud-native tools such as Kubernetes, AWS Lambda, and Terraform, alongside best practices in CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Proven ability to lead engineering teams, drive technical strategy, and mentor junior developers to foster a culture of continuous learning and high performance.
  • Deliver, Work, and Projects: Contribute as a senior member of the Digital Modernisation and Efficiency team, shaping digital services used by millions of people, mentoring junior engineers, promoting CI/CD and automated testing, and ensuring secure, resilient, and accessible systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver effective solutions and be hands-on when needed.
  • Be part of an agile working environment with a focus on continuous learning and professional development; contribute to a supportive community of practice; and participate in flexible working arrangements and career progression opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Location: One of the digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or Sheffield (hybrid model).
  • Hybrid Working: Approximately 40% at home and 60% in a hub.
  • Pay: Up to £78,517 per year.
  • Pension: Civil service pension with employer contributions up to 28.97%, up to £19,758 per year.
  • Holidays: 26 days rising to 31 days with option for up to 3 extra flex days per month; plus public holidays.
