Senior Software Engineer

We're currently working with a growing SaaS company based in Banbury that are looking for a Senior Software Engineer skilled with C# ASP.NET, Angular, and SQL. This role will naturally grow into a Lead Engineer position as the team grows.

You will be working to develop and build their new payroll project, which will be rolling out nationally, and then internationally.

This role is based in Banbury, and it will require you to be onsite a minimum of two days per week.

Essential Experience

  • Professional software engineering experience (typically 5+ years) using C# / ASP.NET (Core & Framework) and modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks, particularly Angular (v8+).
  • Significant understanding and practical experience with relational databases (MySQL /PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Expertise in version control systems (Git) and branching strategies (Gitflow).
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and frameworks and experience with Agile project management tools (Jira preferred).
  • Demonstrable experience in driving process improvements, implementing testing strategies (Unit, Integration, E2E), and improving code quality.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices that can handle high-volume, time-sensitive data with robust error handling and data integrity.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of payroll processing complexities, tax calculations, compliance requirements, and integration with HR systems.
  • Experience implementing or managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Experience with automated testing tools like Selenium or Playwright.
  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker).
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure).
