Senior Software Triage Engineer – Entertainment

We are looking for a talented Senior Software Triage Engineer to support release cycles for deployed software on CPE devices using the Reference Design Kit (RDK). This role focuses on release quality, triage lifecycle, deployment, mitigation, and tool development for software release operations across a broad range of devices powering Sky’s entertainment products.

What You’ll Do

• Lead on-time, high-quality releases across diverse devices by monitoring metrics and alerting systems; promptly respond to critical field issues, identify root causes, and implement effective mitigations.
• Troubleshoot end-to-end issues in entertainment devices across RDK middleware components (media player, streaming protocols, web browser, HDMI, Bluetooth, WiFi/Ethernet); conduct source code reviews to identify root causes.
• Diagnose and resolve issues using Linux systems and networking protocols, including packet capture analysis.
• Design and enhance operational tools; architect DevOps solutions to optimize system performance and efficiency.
• Leverage AWS technologies (S3, Athena, QuickSight) to analyse data from millions of field devices; deliver insights to inform decisions and improve operations.
• Develop anomaly detection techniques and data-driven solutions to proactively identify and resolve system issues; perform global metric comparisons across device models.
• Lead, mentor, and communicate technical insights to stakeholders; manage risks and resolve issues affecting release scope, schedule, and quality.

What You’ll Bring

• Experience with C/C++, Python, and Linux; strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with log management/analysis tools (Elastic Stack, Splunk, Grafana) for data visualization and monitoring.
• Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, or Go).
• Experience in Technical Lead or Senior roles or mentoring engineers; ability to make sound technical decisions and influence others.
• Experience with defect tracking tools such as Jira; familiarity with SCM tools (Git / GitHub).

Team Overview

The RDK Global Triage Team within the RDK development group ensures quality and reliability of TV and broadband products. The team supports software deployment on CPE devices, collaborates with release and engineering teams during integration, and leads issue investigation and live data monitoring. This role involves collaboration across the UK, India, and the US in a dynamic, international environment.

Sky has developed products such as Sky Glass and Sky Stream, leveraging the RDK platform deployed on over 100 million devices across video, broadband, and home security services.
