We are currently looking for a candidate to join our team for the position of Senior Solar Project Engineer/ Ireland and UK
General Responsibilities
- Take Lead role in conducting/managing Technical Due Diligence (TDD), Owners Engineer (OE) and/or design assignments for investors, lenders, or IPPsand
- Undertake role using industry best practice obtained from experience in international renewable energy projects
- Be client-oriented with a focus on delivering value through quality and precision
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams (civil, mechanical and electrical engineers supported by finance and legal advisory experts )
Technical Advisor (TA) -Desk study - Responsibilities
- Undertake technical document reviews (designs, specs, reports) and deliver high-quality reports and executive summaries using
- Solid understanding of conceptual, basic, and detailed PV plant design
- Hands-on experience with PV design tools (AutoCAD, PVsyst, Helioscope, PVcase, PlantPredict, etc.)
- Familiarity with electrical studies and grid compliance requirements
- Ability to review and develop single-line diagrams, string layouts, and electrical schematics
- Knowledge of yield assessments, performance ratios, degradation rates, and curtailment analysis
- Understanding of EPC and O&M contracts from a technical standpoint
- Familiarity with international standards (IEC, IEEE, NEC, NFPA, UL, ISO, etc.)
- Skilled in identifying technical risks across greenfield, RTB, construction, and operational stages
- Knowledge of permitting processes and technical documentation required for RTB
- Undertake occasional site visits as requried (e.g., once per month)
OE Responsibilities
- Review and approval of detailed design and quality management planning documentation in accordance with local regulations, standards and international best practices.
- Review EPC contracts, understanding Employer’s Requirements and contract schedule and advise on potential risks and discrepancies with the design.
- Act as Owner Engineer Lead Engineer, support in managing the EPC Contractor, coordinating work on the construction site and ensuring compliance with the EPC contract and international standards.
- Monitor the implementation of corrective measures and informing stakeholders about non-conformities.
- Undertake regular quality and HSE controls on the construction site and documentation of inspections (checklists, photo reports).
- Attendance on site can vary from once per month (minimum) to once per week or more if required. To be discussed on a project by project basis
- Prepare monthly progress reports, analysing health and safety issues, risks and the schedule.
- Chair periodic and ad-hoc meetings with the client and contractors.
- Cooperate with key stakeholders: landowners, network operator, client and authorities.
- Supervise the commissioning of photovoltaic facilities, warranty tests and verification of test results.
- Review and approval of as-built documentation for photovoltaic projects.
Requirements
- University education in engineering (preferred field: electrical engineering).
- 5 years of experience in photovoltaic project management, including EPC project review, quality inspections and schedule management.
- Knowledge of norms and standards related to the design and construction of photovoltaic power plants.
- Good knowledge of health and safety, environmental protection and construction site risk issues.
- Ability to prepare reports and technical documentation.
- Quality and detail-oriented mindset. Ability to work autonomously, with limited supervision and effective time management as well.
- Experience in working with project management and documentation tools.
- Excellent communication skills, including experience in working with stakeholders.
- Good knowledge of English (spoken and written); German language skills will be an asset.
- Ability to travel and perform site inspections in Ireland and UK (at minimum).
- Certifications such as PMP or other technical/engineering accreditations are a plus
