OverviewSenior Structural Engineer position at RSK LDE (Land and Development Engineering), located in Wigan, UK. This is a full-time, permanent role within the RSK Group.ResponsibilitiesStructural Engineer within design team on designated projects, reporting to Associate Engineer.Undertake site surveys and structural inspections to ensure design integrity and compliance with engineering standards.Understand and manage the role within the design team and the timescales for required works.Collaborate with other design team members (Architect, M&E Engineer, Client, etc.) and coordinate effectively.Keep up to date with changes in legislation, codes of practice, design codes and proprietary suppliers.Assist in scheme design/value engineering with the design team to meet client requirements with viable options.Understand project programmes, coordination, communication, and LDE involvement to ensure satisfactory delivery.Maintain and develop technical or management capability through CPD and attending seminars.Understand and implement RSK’s HERRR, Quality and SHEQMS procedures at project level.Attend training seminars when relevant and present key points to colleagues.Check drawings and calculations prepared by colleagues.Undertake calculations and designs using an efficient and rationalised process to the latest design standards.Assist in issuing project documents (email, extra-net and postal).Be aware of project deadlines and allocate time to work items.Senior Structural Engineers should use their experience to advise and mentor more junior members of the team.Technical specificationWorking knowledge of Revit / AutoCAD.Ongoing experience in drawing production in accordance with standard procedures.Practical understanding of structural engineering principles.Working knowledge of 2D/3D steel and concrete finite element modelling software.Working knowledge of TEDDS, CADS, wall panel designer and Tela structures would be desirable.Develop project management skills using RSK procedures.Understand and implement Designer’s duties under the CDM Regulations 2015.Working knowledge of NHBC Standards and Building Regulations.Qualifications/RequirementsPrior knowledge of the full engineering/development process.Experienced in designing reinforced concrete, steelwork and load-bearing masonry structures.Educated to degree or HNC level.Experienced in undertaking site surveys and structural inspections.Working towards professional chartership with ICE or IStructE.Self-motivated and ambitious; good self-management of time and work.Strong team player with an energetic outlook that motivates others.Experienced in use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Effective communication skills.Salary and BenefitsSalary commensurate with experienceContributory Pension SchemeFlexible benefits including option to buy additional holidays, childcare vouchers and private health careRegular training and career developmentCompany and Equal OpportunitiesThe RSK Group is an equal opportunities company.
