The role involves working on specialist structural engineering design projects from inception to practical completion across sectors such as commercial, health, retail, industrial, education, hotels, and leisure.ResponsibilitiesCarry out specialist structural engineering design projects from inception to practical completion in various sectors.Attend project meetings, liaise with other disciplines, and produce detailed designs and specifications to meet design and construction programmes.Coordinate design and detailing work appropriate to the project and contribute to internal project management and resourcing.Conduct structural surveys and desk studies, providing initial advice on issues that may arise.Prepare detailed design calculations to British Standards, Eurocodes, and relevant design notes using appropriate 3D software.Interpret Client briefs and assist in preparing designs from scheme through to detail.Investigate solutions independently, explore options, and develop communicated design solutions with partners and peers.Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for Tender purposes; respond to Client RFIs.Attend Design Team meetings with Clients and other design collaborators; communicate ideas through sketches, models, and presentations.Assist in producing Construction information for issue to Contractors.Visit construction sites to monitor progress and advise Contractors; coordinate design information with other disciplines.Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior team members; facilitate meetings and CPD activities to support development.Support AKT II’s Technical agenda and provide day-to-day support to colleagues from other disciplines.Attend team meetings with internal and external disciplines.Qualifications and ExperienceA good degree in Engineering.Experienced Chartered Engineer (IStructE or ICE or equivalent), recently Chartered or near-chartered.Experience in structural design of concrete and steel structures, with knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards.Strong analytical understanding of engineering principles and practical understanding of buildings and construction.Ability to design and deliver structural solutions on major or complex projects; proactive and able to work on own initiative.Collaborative, team-oriented approach with strong communication and interpersonal skills.Understanding of multidisciplinary requirements and coordinated solutions; proficient with design and analysis software.Knowledge of CDM Regulations and designers responsibilities.What’s in it for you?The chance to work for an innovative, design-led company in London with a friendly, dedicated team and a competitive salary.
