OverviewSenior Sustainability / Building Physics Engineer (Hybrid - Bristol Area) | Location: Bristol (Hybrid working with minimum 2 days onsite) | Salary: Competitive, with annual performance bonus | Hours: Full-time (37 hours/week)About the RoleAn established building services consultancy in the Bristol area is looking to add a Senior Sustainability / Building Physics Engineer to their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a variety of high-profile projects across education, healthcare, commercial, residential, and leisure sectors. You will be a key contributor to sustainability and building physics input on projects – from energy modelling and life cycle assessments to BREEAM, Passivhaus, and Net Zero Carbon strategies. Alongside project work, you\'ll mentor junior engineers and collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative, low-carbon building designs.ResponsibilitiesLead sustainability and building physics consultancy services throughout project lifecyclesPerform thermal modelling, energy performance analysis, embodied carbon calculations, and life cycle assessmentsPrepare clear technical reports, sustainability statements, and certification documentation (BREEAM, Passivhaus, etc.)Attend design team, client, and site meetings, providing expert advice and guidanceMentor and support junior team members, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused environmentKeep up to date with evolving UK regulations and best practice frameworks, including Part L, NPPF, and local planning policiesManage workload efficiently to deliver high-quality work within deadlinesCandidate ProfileDegree qualified in Building Services, Environmental or Architectural Engineering, Energy, Sustainability, or a related fieldCertified Low Carbon Energy Assessor (or working towards qualification)Strong experience in building physics principles, thermal modelling, and sustainability assessmentsProficient with software such as IES, AutoCAD, and RevitFamiliar with UK sustainability standards and regulations including BREEAM, Passivhaus, Net Zero Carbon, Part L, and NPPFExcellent communication, organisational, and analytical skillsComfortable working independently and collaborativelyDemonstrable leadership and mentoring capabilitiesBenefits & CultureCompetitive salary and annual performance-related bonusGenerous holiday entitlement with additional long-service leaveFlexible hybrid working arrangements promoting work-life balancePrivate healthcare and life insuranceCompany pension schemeCycle to work and referral bonus schemesStrong commitment to personal development, including support towards professional chartershipIf you are an experienced Sustainability / Building Physics Engineer seeking a new challenge with career progression and impactful projects, please get in touch.
