Overview
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will be making a real and immediate contribution to UK national security and defence, developing and delivering operational capabilities in the Cyber, Cryptography and Operational Technology domains. Day-to-day, you'll have the opportunity to work closely with customers as a Senior or Principal Systems Engineer, making use of strong, business analysis, consultancy, Systems Thinking and requirements engineering skills. You will be able operate throughout a project's lifecycle to engage with complex stakeholder sets, scope and elicit their needs, engineer these into a structured, disciplined model of their requirements and drive subsequent development or acquisition of a solution.
Responsibilities
- Working flexibly either as part of, or leading, a team or singly, delivering Customer-friend consultancy and business analysis to support internal and external customers in their planning and management of acquisition, research or product development activities
- Understanding and analysing stakeholder needs and expectations to elicit, capture and manage their requirements for a capability
- Identification of, reporting back on, and developing additional customer business opportunities
- Technically leading the planning and management of acquisition, research or product development activity
- Leading project teams as a solution develops to ensure its continuing compliance to requirements
- Analysing requirements and translating them into logical system requirements and constraints
- Ability to understand and analyse business needs (Operational User / Mission Needs)
- Ability to work with and support other Project/Systems Engineering and Subject Matter Experts to develop detailed designs and planning
- Solid Systems Engineering knowledge, MBSE experience desirable
- Knowledge of Cryptography (Crypt-Key), Vulnerability Research, Cyber Defence, or Cyber Exercising highly desirable, Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, or proven experience working in an equivalent engineering role
- Intention to join/membership of appropriate professional body
Qualifications
- Experience in Systems Engineering with MBSE is desirable
- Knowledge of Cryptography (Crypt-Key), Vulnerability Research, Cyber Defence, or Cyber Exercising is highly desirable
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering or technical discipline, or proven experience in an equivalent engineering role
- Intention to join or be a member of an appropriate professional body
Location and Conditions
We are based at the Malvern site. This role is 37 hours per week with travel to other QinetiQ and customer sites expected.
