Overview

Senior Testing Engineer (Principles) role at AtkinsRéalis. The Rail Engineering Projects Testing and Commissioning Team is expanding to embrace modern systems, processes and concepts within a regulated environment. You will manage the principles testing of projects of varying types, sizes and complexities, demonstrating the ability to work under pressure and with initiative. You should have strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate with staff at all levels. A full UK driving licence is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for fundamentals testing and commissioning of new and altered signalling systems for Major Works; perform testing within the scope of your Certificate of Competency.
  • Hold NR CofC and IRSE License - Tester in Charge and Functional Tester IRSE License 1.3.190 / 1.3.170 (or have held them in the past few years).
  • Identify resource requirements for projects, ensure competent staff are utilized, briefed on their responsibilities, and complete necessary documentation; support staff development; deputise for the Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Principles).
  • Provide upward briefing of project principles testing status to the Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Principles) and Project team; ensure adherence to AtkinsRéalis rail standards, procedures, and processes covering engineering, safety, administrative and project requirements; contribute to continual improvement alongside quality, safety and environmental objectives.
  • Manage principles testing activities as part of commissioning signalling equipment to meet contract specifications, performance and safety parameters.
  • Prepare and check bids for the basics testing portion of signalling projects; contribute to continuous improvement of processes, procedures and innovations.

Requirements

  • Experience in railway signalling testing/commissioning across projects of varying sizes. Principles and Functional Tester IRSE License. Thorough knowledge of the Network Rail Signal Works Testing Handbook.
  • Thorough knowledge of fundamentals testing requirements; substantial railway signalling experience, especially in rules of signalling testing of Computer Based Interlocking schemes.
  • Good knowledge of Railway Group NWR company standards; strong personnel management and communication skills; ability to work under pressure during commissioning.
  • Ability to deputise for the Testing & Commissioning Engineer (Principles); flexible and efficient in supporting the project; able to contribute to management direction for the testing group.
