Job Title: Senior/Principal Platform Systems Mechanical Engineer
Location: Barrow-in-Furness

What you’ll be doing includes developing the package of design evidence required to justify a safe, effective design and generate customer confidence in the design solution; specifying and assisting in the build of prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing; providing timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issues; ensuring commitments are agreed, reviewed and met; mentoring junior engineers regarding technical matters; making presentations to technical and management audiences and identifying novel technical concepts and markets; author/co-authoring technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations as required.

Responsibilities

• Develop the package of design evidence required to justify a safe, effective design and generate customer confidence in the design solution.
• Specify and assist in the build of prototypes, products and systems suitable for testing.
• Provide timely corrective actions on all assigned defects and issues.
• Ensure commitments are agreed, reviewed and met.
• Mentor junior engineers regarding technical matters.
• Make presentations effectively to technical and management audiences and identify and keep abreast of novel technical concepts and markets.
• Author/co-author technical reports, papers, articles, patents and presentations as required.

Your skills and experiences

• Educated to Degree level in Engineering, Mechanical or Science Subjects.
• Ability to design documentation with the ability to present these to customers and wider groups.
• Ability to solve complex engineering calculations.
• Engineering Lifecycle background.
• Proficient in CAD, MS Office and comfortable with other IT applications.
