You will join Ramboll’s Building Structures team in London, working on local landmarks as well as national and international projects. Ramboll is a foundation-owned global company with a long history and a collaborative culture focused on sustainable solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and agree structural concepts and design philosophies.
  • Inspire and enthuse the engineers and technicians on your projects.
  • Liaise with clients and collaborators, representing Ramboll at project meetings.
  • Take ownership as day-to-day lead on a project or part of a project.
  • Push the boundaries of low-carbon design.

Key deliverables for the first 12 months

  • Grow and maintain a network of contacts and be a great ambassador for Ramboll.
  • Lead the design process for a project (size suitable for level of experience).
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the London team and beyond to support implementation of aspects of the Ramboll Business Plan.

Starting point for growth

  • Chartered with the IStructE, ICE, or international equivalent.
  • An excellent communicator able to explain complex engineering principles verbally, in writing, and through sketching.
  • A track record of working on projects with high design, sustainability, or re-use of existing assets.
  • Experience in the design of primary construction materials (steel, concrete, timber) and general knowledge of building construction; MMC experience would be beneficial.
  • A passion for sustainable solutions.
  • A multidisciplinary mindset and an aptitude for learning about the wider aspects of building design.

  • A curiosity to explore – “is there a better way to do this”.
  • Willingness to ask questions and to answer them.

Essential requirements

We are also interested in any experience you may have in the following areas, but these are not essential:

  • Assessment, retrofit and alteration of existing structures.
  • Construction supervision, building investigation and structural testing.
