Senior/Staff Process Development Engineer

Overview

Senior/Staff Process Development Engineer. We’re looking for a passionate engineer to turn manual workflows into robust, scalable manufacturing processes. This onsite role sits at the intersection of hands-on experimentation and data-driven decision-making, from early prototypes through production-ready systems.

You’ll collaborate across internal teams—Sensor Development, Automated Equipment, Mechanical Engineering, and Data Engineering—and with external vendors to transform uncharacterised manual or semi-automated processes into well-defined, optimised, and monitored manufacturing workflows. You will act as the subject matter expert for 2–4 manufacturing processes, defining process windows and recipes, characterising limits, and optimising for quality, yield, and throughput—enabling seamless integration with evolving product designs.

This role suits engineers who thrive in ambiguity, define acceptance criteria, push processes from nominal functionality to tightly controlled, validated performance, communicate clearly, and take ownership of processes and cross-functional alignment.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop scalable, repeatable processes from early manual or semi-automated stages
  • Define process parameters, windows, and manufacturing recipes
  • Characterise process limits and optimise for yield, throughput, and stability

Process Control & Metrics

  • Establish and monitor metrics for quality, throughput, and yield
  • Implement systems to track and visualise process health
  • Use data to drive decision-making, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Ownership

  • Act as the project manager for your processes, aligning priorities and timelines
  • Communicate risks, wins, and progress clearly to stakeholders
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to enable successful process execution
  • Collaborate with Sensor Development, Automated Equipment, Mechanical Engineering, and Data Engineering teams

Verification & Validation

  • Develop test protocols and qualification strategies (IQ/OQ/PQ)
  • Ensure processes meet functional and regulatory requirements
  • Support operator training, auditing, and vendor management

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Biomedical, or related)
  • 2–5 years of experience in process development or manufacturing engineering, preferably in a regulated environment (medical devices, aerospace, automotive, etc.)
  • Proven ability to develop, characterise, and optimise manual or semi-automated manufacturing processes
  • Strong background in experimental design, statistical analysis, and root-cause problem solving
  • Hands-on experience setting process windows, recipes, and acceptance criteria
  • Familiarity with IQ/OQ/PQ and test method validation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and collaborate across R&D, automation, data, and mechanical engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical issues, risks, and results to stakeholders

Bonus Points

  • Data-driven process control, manufacturing dashboards, or metrics development
  • Experience in high-volume or scale-up manufacturing environments (medical devices)
  • Proficiency in statistical tools (e.g., JMP, Minitab)
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent process improvement training

Why Sava?

This is a high-ownership, high-responsibility role in a company building something complex, meaningful, and fast. The expectations are high, the learning curve is steep, and the work is often messy—but the impact is real. We value humility, collaboration, and urgency, with a mission to build something better for health technology.
