Overview

An exciting opportunity is available for two Sequence Engineers to work as part of the Midlands Control Team, designing and building the Sequence Schemes within the company\'s Network Management (ADMS) system. The role will be based in Castle Donington. Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete. Please note that there is no hybrid working with this role due to the nature of the role. Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure all sequence schemes fully consider HV System security and actions necessary to maintain optimum security on the whole electrical distribution network.
  • Build, edit and implement sequence scheme changes within the live AMDS system.
  • Ensure that SQC schemes are identified by checking outages in the OMS system.
  • Design bespoke SQC schemes for facilitating whole primary or individual circuit strategic restorations.
  • Run schemes on the DEV ADMS system (Test system) for function checks.
  • In the live ADMS system, approve, commission and enable the schemes before a respective outage.
  • Manage SQC scheme amendments and updates ad-hoc and as required.
  • Track progress of the outages to ensure schemes are enabled and disabled in a timely manner.
  • Apply APRS schemes where not deployed by CNI team.
  • Check fault reports to ensure operational compliance, address non-compliance.
  • Amendment of schemes where Normal Open Points are moved.
  • Support Outage Planning with short-term working requirements and for any necessary contingency plans with SQC Schemes.
  • Support IIS compliance and associated audits.
  • Review submitted Technical Approval applications.
  • Support Internal stakeholders with ad-hoc scheme enquiries.
  • Assist in post fault restoration enquiries.
  • Other duties as directed by a Control Operations Manager that are required for network safety, security, or continuity of operations.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Minimum of a level 4 / HNC in an Engineering or Computer Science subject that includes some electrical modules.
  • Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of the Electricity Distribution Network and its operation.
  • Familiarity with an ADMS / Power-On / ENMAC product operation is not essential but advantageous.
  • Because the post attracts National Security Vetting clearance, there are eligibility requirements. Details are available on the gov.uk website. To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application.
