Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated Shift Engineer specialising in Plumbing and Mechanical disciplines to join a dynamic team operating on a continental shift pattern. The role involves working 12-hour shifts covering both day and night (7am-7pm), delivering reactive and planned maintenance as well as installation tasks across plumbing and mechanical systems. Key responsibilities include performing daily water treatment planned preventative maintenance (PPM), responding promptly to emergency fire alarm calls using the fire panel, and operating the Building Management System (BMS) to control plant operations across the site. The successful candidate will be required to work flexibly across shifts, utilising a bleep and shift mobile for emergency responses. A DBS check is mandatory for this position. This role offers a competitive basic salary with a shift allowance upon permanent appointment.
Key Responsibilities:
Carry out reactive and planned plumbing and mechanical maintenance and installation tasks
Perform daily water treatment PPM duties
Respond to emergency fire alarm calls, operate fire panels, and communicate via bleep and shift mobile
Use the Building Management System (BMS) to monitor and control site plant equipment
Work effectively across both day and night shifts on a continental shift pattern
Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations and site procedures
Keep accurate records of maintenance activities and report issues promptly
Required Skills:
Level 3 Building Services qualification and/or minimum Level 2 Plumbing qualification
Proven experience in plumbing and mechanical maintenance and installation
Ability to work effectively on a shift pattern including nights
Competent in operating Building Management Systems (BMS)
Skilled in emergency response procedures, including fire alarm systems
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Good organisational and time management abilities
Ability to work independently and under pressure
Understanding of health and safety standards relevant to the role
Willingness to undergo and pass a DBS check
Certifications & Standards:
Level 3 Building Services qualification and/or Level 2 Plumbing qualification (minimum)
DBS clearance (required)
Compliance with relevant health and safety legislation and site-specific procedures
