We’re excited to start building our McLaren Endurance Racing team.
Purpose of the Role
- Creation, correlation and exploitation of chassis and PU models to maximise performance into the 2026 season and new regulations, in collaboration with technical partners and internal teams across Performance, Control Systems, and Race Engineering.
- Exploit car performance through optimisation of setup and developing new concepts.
- Support events as part of the Mission Control team monitoring vehicle performance in real time.
- Collaborate with the Driver-in-the-loop simulator team to improve correlation between vehicle models and the real world.
Principal Accountabilities
- Identify opportunities to improve car performance through high fidelity vehicle models and integration with car simulation toolchain.
- Collaborate across internal and external stakeholders.
- Run pre-event simulations that explore chassis and powertrain performance across a range of conditions.
- Provide mission control-based event support, using live analysis of on-track running to optimise chassis and powertrain exploitation during race weekends.
- Produce high-quality, audience-appropriate analysis within challenging timeframes.
- Create or develop tools to improve performance analysis.
Role Dimensions
- This role sits within Vehicle Performance, within the Simulator & Simulation Group.
- Requires weekend work to support WEC race and test events; UK-based.
- The role reports directly to the Head of Simulator & Simulation.
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a relevant Engineering or Mathematics discipline (essential).
- Strong analytical skills underpinned by a data-driven approach.
- Proven experience in a simulation role in high-level Motorsport.
- Deep understanding of how a car\'s systems interact to affect performance.
- Previous exposure to track/race/simulator environment.
- Programming skills in Python, C++, or MATLAB/Simulink for data processing and tool development.
- Experience with the McLaren Applied toolset for vehicle and control code simulation would be advantageous (MCT, System Monitor, ATLAS, vTAG-PC).
